Simon Wakefield – Managing Director
Simon has nearly 30 years experience in technical recruitment in the transportation sector. He has worked for multinational companies at Director level and has set up successful automotive design and engineering companies providing staff to OEMs and their 1st and 2nd tier suppliers on a worldwide basis. This experience encompasses all aspects of recruitment at all levels from Board appointments to teams of shop floor workers on both a contract and permanent basis. Simon manages the company but also has specific client responsibilities focussing mainly on high level appointments.
Simon has sailed dinghies for 36 years and currently sails Squibs at Stone Sailing Club and an RS Elite at the Royal Burnham Yacht Club. He also tries to keep the effects of ageing at bay by sailing Hornets but freely admits that this is becoming increasingly painful.
Denise started working in recruitment in 1993 after a long career in the retail sector of the marine industry. This combination of experience gives Denise an unrivalled insight into the leisure marine sector and its entire supply base. She also has extensive commercial experience having managed successful business units and supervised recruitment teams working on a multidisciplinary basis. Denise manages the Yellow Admiral recruitment team as well as having client responsibility in the leisure marine sector.
Denise has also sailed dinghies, keel boats and even square riggers for years and was recently elected Commodore of Stone Sailing Club. When these responsibilities allow she also sails a Hornet there. She does the circuit on the foredeck of a 707 sailed out of Burnham-on-Crouch.
Laura has over 15 years experience of recruitment in the public and voluntary sectors. She spent four years as Trustee of a national educational charity, and has wide experience within this sector ranging from recruiting individual team members for small organisations through to setting up complete organisations from scratch to service government initiatives. Laura has complete responsibility for public appointments as well as overseeing the administrative functions of the company.
A bad back has put a halt to Laura’s sailing activities (although she remains the only team member to have won more than one race at a National Championship) but her responsibilities as a Race Officer, Social Secretary and Executive Committee member at Stone Sailing Club keep her actively involved in all things sailing.
